The Story of The Oaks Steakhouse
The Oaks Steakhouse opened its doors to diners in the Broken Bow and Hochatown community on October 27th, 1997. A former McCurtain County sheriff, L.D. “Bud” Gilbreath founded the restaurant with his wife, Laverne, as a way for the family to get back into the customer service industry after running a grocery store. Building a restaurant was a return to the “people business” for the Gilbreath family.
Strong, large oak trees surround the site — hence the inspiration for the restaurant’s name, The Oaks Steakhouse. Becoming one of the first major restaurants in the area, residents have long appreciated our establishment and continue to show their support.
